The Best Detox Diet

There are a lot of “Detox” Diets around, so what is the best one? How long should you do a detox diet?
“Detox” is short for detoxification. Your body has many ways of detoxifying naturally; the liver, kidneys, bowels, lungs and skin all help remove unwanted or harmful substances from your body. We call these harmful substance toxins.
It always strikes me as somewhat bizarre when people learn about foods and drinks that are toxic or harmful to the body and avoid them during the detox, then go straight back to consuming the toxic foods and drinks after their “detox diet”. If this sounds familiar – ask yourself why you want to damage your body?  In reality a toxin-free diet is for life, literally; it helps you live longer, stronger, and happier. Always avoid toxic “foods” such as sugar, sweet foods, and damaging highly processed fats. For some people alcohol and caffeine are hugely detrimental, so must be strictly avoided always. For others the damage will be less pronounced; so do not have to be so strictly avoided.
Naturopaths help you to support your body to get rid of toxins. Naturopaths focus on areas of your body which are weakest. For example if you have skin problems, then herbs, nutrients (such as Food State Zinc and Vitamin C), and foods (such as high quality fats, pumpkin seeds, carrots, green vegetables) to support your skin will be included in the Detox, in addition to improvements in particular complaints people notice an increase in energy, and if needed weight loss.
Detoxifying regimes, include mini fasts, herbal detoxifying treatments, dry skin brushing and metabolic typing programmes. The best “detox diet” will be the one that is best suited to your individual needs.
