About the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis Test

The hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) tests 20 minerals and toxic metals minerals in your hair. The test results are divided into 3 separate sections; the minerals we need (the nutritive minerals), the toxic elements that can harm your body, and the minerals the body does need but in high amounts are harmful.

The hair tissue mineral analysis is a laboratory test using a Mass Spectrometer to assess mineral levels in parts per million or parts per billion. This is the same type of equipment used for testing of soil or rocks.

Hair, like all other body tissues, contains minerals that are deposited as the hair grows. Although the hair is dead, the minerals remain as the hair continues to grow out. A sample of hair cut close to the scalp provides information about the mineral activity in the hair that took place over the past three to four months, depending on the rate of hair growth.

Your hair must not have been coloured for 4-5 weeks prior to the test.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis Exactly What is Tested?

This full test gives information which is more helpful than just testing for individual minerals/toxic metals alone; as the levels of nutrient minerals can affect the levels of the toxic metals and vice versa.
