The additional four questions do not add to the score on the first 10 questions.

But they do assess variables relevant to distress that give an indication of the impact or degree of disability associated with your identified degree of psychological distress.

Results

  • score under 20 you are likely to be well;
  • score 20-24 you are likely to have a mild mental health disorder;
  • score 25-29 you are likely to have moderate mental health disorder;
  • score 30 and over you are likely to have a severe mental health disorder.

What happens if you have a score less than 20 but still feel anxious, depressed, distressed or concerned about your mental health?

It is important to remember that the Kessler 10 questionnaire does not cover all aspects of psychological distress or mental health problems. Although it is generally a good guide, you may have a low score but still feel there are some areas that you need some help with. In this case do contact us for naturopathic help with these issues.
