Jaine Kirtley's Thoughts

I am strongly anti-discrimination in any form, I do do not want to see the 2 tier divide which the government wants to become a reality in this country.

So I will not be disclosing my jab status.

I fully support personal choice in healthcare.

Human knowledge evolves over time. If we are fortunate as a society, we remember past observations and decide not to repeat actions which were detrimental, and we keep doing the things that helped society.

Science is not an end point. It is a process of continuous observation and reflection. Scientific knowledge evolves over time. The scientific knowledge on the “jab” is evolving.

Now, in 2021, the decision to have a “jab” or to not have a “jab” is based on incomplete scientific knowledge. Why incomplete? Because “time” is a crucial part of any scientific research.

We simply have not had the time factor to complete the vast body of research we need to make a fully informed decision.

In New Zealand today people who choose not to have the “jab” are being discriminated. The government wants a “two tier” society. Kind, caring people are losing this week jobs including Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Social Workers, Teachers, and many others. These are not stupid people.

These are people who care about health and welfare. Their decision is just different to the government decision.

I stand strong with my Nursing colleagues, and many of us with decades of experience, who oppose mandatory jabs.

I always done my upmost not to place a strain on health services and hospitals and I continue to do so.

I have never supported any form of discrimination and have no intension of supporting or colluding with discrimination now.

Response to the Health Committee - Recommendations for Childhood Immunisation

Response to the Health Committee

Recommendations for Childhood Immunisation

The New Zealand Society of Naturopaths
Media Release 9th June 2011

by Jaine Kirtley PR Spokesperson for NZSN

The Report of the Health Committee -Inquiry into how to improve completion rates of childhood immunisation, the coronial process and the adverse reaction process this year raises some concerns for the New Zealand Society of Naturopaths (NZSN).

Proposal for Payments- monies better spent of health education?

The NZSN have concerns about the proposal that payments are made to parents who vaccinate their children. A spokesperson for the New Zealand society of naturopaths said "We see this as a coercive measure that may put undue pressure on the parents and stop them seeking information to make an informed decision in light of all the evidence. In addition we believe that the money spent on implementing and carrying out the payments of incentives would be better spent on health education for example to encourage parents to provide a nutritious diet for their children and promote a healthy lifestyle".

Plans for a certificate of vaccination- may cause parents to withdraw children from education

The NZSN are disturbed by the plan to issue all children with a certificate of vaccination on entering school. This may cause parents who object to vaccinations to avoid early education facilities or withdraw their children from school. The NZSN would like an assurance from the Ministry of Health that if such certificates are issued that it follow the recommendations of the report and make it very clear to all parents that their children can still attend school even if they are not vaccinated, and that vaccination is not compulsory.

Evidence-based data on the positive and adverse effects of immunisation

One of the recommendations of the report is that the Ministry of Health ensures it publishes up-to-date, readily accessible evidence-based data on the positive and adverse effects of immunisation so that informed consent may be made the New Zealand Society of Naturopaths believes that publication of adverse effects of vaccination is a step forward in giving a balanced viewpoint to enable parents and guardians make a decision on vaccination. The current literature published by the Ministry of Health regarding vaccinations rarely mentions ill effects of vaccinations. The report on the other hand, does acknowledge that there are ill effects from vaccinations.
